Warwickshire Police has promised locals there will be more officers out in person across the county as England's World Cup gets underway tonight (June 17).

The Three Lions play Croatia in the first of their three group stage games.

Further fixtures against Ghana (June 23) and Panama (June 27) will then follow.

Extra officers will be deployed for each of these England fixtures and during any knock-out games should England progress from the group.

Superintendent Karl Faulkner said: "These extra officers are there to help keep you safe and make sure it's a World Cup to remember for all the right reasons.

"If you have any concerns, please speak to one of them.

"You can help by planning ahead, making sure you know how you're getting home at the end of the night and looking out for your friends."
