Locals are being encouraged to take advantage of the Early Bird discount for a local charity's annual Cycle Challenge.

The Myton Hospices' Cycle Challenge will be taking place on Sunday 2 August.

Participants are encouraged to sign up before Friday 8 May to secure a discounted place while supporting vital hospice care across Coventry and Warwickshire.

With a fundraising target of £70,000, this year's event could fund the running costs of the inpatient unit at Warwick Myton Hospice for two weeks.

As the only hospice provider of specialist palliative care in the area, and the only hospice locally with inpatient beds, the funds raised will help ensure vital support for people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families.

This year's event comes at a time of increased demand, rising operational costs, and a national funding crisis affecting hospices across the UK, with many organisations being forced to reduce services and cut staff.

Natalie Walker, Events and Campaigns Manager at The Myton Hospices, shared: "Our annual Cycle Challenge is a fantastic day of cycling, bringing together supporters of all abilities, with a little friendly competition along the way. It's a great way to support local hospice care this summer, and every mile ridden helps ensure we can continue providing the support that people across Coventry and Warwickshire so desperately need and deserve."

Starting and finishing at Warwick Myton Hospice, Myton's Cycle Challenge offers three distances – 50km, 100km, and 100 miles – suitable for a wide range of abilities. Cyclists will travel through the picturesque villages of Warwickshire and the Cotswolds, combining personal challenge with the opportunity to support their local community.

Returning for the 100-mile route is the much-anticipated Saintbury Hill climb. This timed challenge will test riders both mentally and physically, with one male and one female participant crowned Myton Champion and awarded a bespoke winners' jersey.

Following the ride, participants will be welcomed back to Warwick Myton Hospice, where food, refreshments, and entertainment will be on offer.
