District councillors will next week consider proposals for dog walking and other rules in parks across the area.

At Warwick District Council's Licensing and Regulatory Committee meeting on 23 June, councillors will consider proposals for renewing, amending and introducing new Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) for 2026 to 2029.

PSPOs are in place to tackle a range of anti-social behaviour.

Councillors are due to discuss feedback from two consultations with local residents, businesses and organisations.

The council said a "wide range of views" were voiced.

Following numerous deaths and serious incidents reported locally and nationally, together with ongoing safety concerns relating to the use of rivers, canals and other waterways, councillors will be asked to consider whether a public consultation on proposals relating to bridge jumping and other dangerous water-based activities should be held.

A council report said: "Tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB) remains a central element of delivering the Council's strategic priority to create vibrant, safe, and healthy communities.

"The evidence gathered through the PSPO review demonstrates that the behaviours regulated by the existing Orders, including dog fouling, dog related nuisance, and the use of intoxicating substances in public places have had, and in many cases continue to have, a detrimental and persistent impact on the quality of life of those in the locality."
