Council backs more double yellow lines around busy junction

More double yellow lines will be imposed around the Queensway roundabout, Warwickshire County Council (WCC) has confirmed.
The major roadworks project in the area is well underway, and the local authority has approved new 'no waiting at any time' orders on the surrounding roads.
"This is to ensure that the traffic signal junctions operate safely and efficiently," a WCC notice said.
"It is necessary to prevent vehicles parking, this ensures that as drivers are approaching the junction, they can clearly see the traffic lights and the pedestrians waiting to cross the road.
"Furthermore, by preventing vehicles parking, the queuing length and delays are reduced, since drivers can use the available road space to queue and wait for the green signal.
"Increasing the current double yellow lines should have the effect of keeping the carriageways clear of obstruction, ensure the free flow of traffic, preserve visibility and aid road safety."
The extra yellow lines will be painted on Europa Way, Queensway and Tachbrook Park Road.
The full order will see double yellow lines on the following roads:
- A452 Europa Way Northbound - 186 metres
- A452 Europa Way Southbound - 225 metres
- Queensway both sides - 48 metres
- Tachbrook Park Drive Northern side - 65 metres
- Tachbrook Park Drive Southern side - 72 metres
Works around Queensway will eventually see a new carriageway, new traffic lights and a wider pedestrian path installed.
