A chain café at the Shires Retail Park has shaken off the one-star hygiene rating it received earlier this year.

Caffe Nero was told in December it needed to make "major improvements" at its Tachbrook Park Drive site.

But following an inspection at the end of April, the coffee shop has now been given a five star hygiene rating.

The FSA said the hygienic handling of food was "very good" having needed major improvement at the end of 2023.

The cleanliness of the facilities and building was also rated "very good" following the most recent inspection.

Caffe Nero was given the rating of "good" for it management of food safety, after receiving a "generally satisfactory" assessment last year.

At the other end of the rating spectrum, a five-star review means the venue's hygiene standards are very good and fully comply with the law.

To get the top rating, businesses must do well in all three elements of an inspection.

This includes how hygienically the food is handled, the physical condition of the business and how the business manages ways of keeping food safe through training and processes.
