A 'paw-some adventure' is in store for families visiting Warwick town centre this month, thanks to a brand new Bear Trail.

Warwick Town Council is launching the Eco Bear Trail for May half-term as the perfect entertainment for children of all ages, plus a chance to highlight the importance of recycling, reducing waste and caring for the environment.

The trail will feature six bears, sculpted by local artist Suw Mitchell, with four designed by local schools as part of a 'Bottles to Bears' project. Each will be around 4ft tall and all will be made from recycled bottles collected from the Pageant Gardens fish sculpture - launched last year as part of Great Big Green Week and named Fin Diesel following a town-wide competition.

The schools involved are: Evergreen School, Warwick Prep School, Warwick Junior School and Westgate Primary School. Their eye-catching creations will be spread around the Warwick town centre at key locations, making the trail the perfect way to explore the town.

Trail maps will be available from the Visitor Information Centre, where a display will complement the trail, including bottles for people to touch and information on climate change.

The Eco Bear Trail, which launches on the weekend of 23rd May, will run for four weeks and could possibly be extended if it proves popular.

Kelly Scott, Warwick Town Council's Town Centre Manager, said: "The Warwick Eco Bear Trail is the perfect combination of fun and an engaging way to tell an important story about our planet. All families need to do is pick up a map then follow the trail to discover a collection of colourful bears, each one made from recycled plastic bottles through the amazing 'Bottles to Bears' project. Even better, many of these bottles were collected locally from our recycling fish Fin Diesel!

"As you explore, you'll learn how small actions like recycling, reducing waste, and caring for our environment can make a big difference in tackling climate change. Perfect for families, little explorers and curious minds, this trail is a chance to have fun, learn something new, and help keep Warwick green. So grab your cubs and see if you can spot them all… it's going to be un-bear-lievably good!"
