A local jewellers has opened a new section of its shop for incognito buyers looking for engagement rings and other surprise gifts after a six-week refurbishment.

The Jones Family Jewellers, which opened in Talisman Shopping Centre at the start of the year in the unit of the former Sylvester's Jewellers, has opened a private viewing area for those wishing to view and buy beautiful items away from prying eyes – such as a would-be bride or groom.

Richard Jones, owner of The Jones Family Jewellers, made the decision to create the new section of the shop after great initial success achieved by the business since opening, and customer feedback.

"Quite a lot of customers had mentioned they'd be after engagement rings or similarly sensitive jewellery, but didn't want to browse in the main area of the shop where they can be easily seen," he said.

"A private viewing area had already worked well in our Leamington store for those kinds of purchases, and after a good period of trading in Kenilworth, we thought it was worth investing in building one here.

"We're really pleased with how it's turned out, and we think it will be an excellent addition to our Kenilworth store."

The Jones Family Jewellers - which also has a shop in Leamington Spa - has settled well into its new Kenilworth premises after its move, with Richard impressed with Talisman Shopping Centre's high footfall.

He is now hoping the run-up to Christmas – traditionally a very busy time for jewellery businesses – will seal an excellent first year in Kenilworth.

Richard added: "We're actually preparing for Christmas already – we're looking to decorate the front of the store with a gorgeous light display and hopefully the bollards near our store coloured in classic Christmas red and green.

"With the opening of the new private area and the general boost the Christmas period usually provides, I'm confident our first year in Kenilworth will be a positive one."

Hugo Hawkings, chief executive of Talisman Shopping Centre developers Discovery Properties, said: "The Jones Family Jewellers has hit the ground running since opening in Talisman, and its brilliant to hear they have been investing in their store following this success.

"We're hopeful the new private area will encourage customers to visit the store, and we'll of course be looking forward to seeing how well Richard and the team will do at Christmas."
