Building Surveyor (Fire Safety and Climate Change) £30-45p/h Umbrella (INSIDE IR35) - Flexibility depending on experience 3 Months Initially (scope for extension) Warwick District Council Hybrid working available with travel required to housing stock and council sites across the District What will you do? Lead on fire safety and climate change-related capital projects, including decarbonisation and planned works within the Housing Investment Programme (HIP), valued up to £1m Carry out stock condition surveys, defect diagnostics, risk assessments (including Fire Risk and DDA), and prepare reports and technical specifications Project manage delivery of major repairs, cyclical maintenance and refurbishment schemes from planning through to completion Prepare health and safety documentation and ensure full compliance Manage contractor performance, budgets and programme timelines, ensuring works are delivered to the highest standard Provide technical advice and support to internal colleagues, tenants and leaseholders, and be a key point of contact throughout the project lifecycle Maintain accurate, auditable records of actions, payments, valuations and final accounts Assist in shaping future investment programmes and provide stock condition insights to inform future strategy What do you need? To be successful in your application for this role, you will need to demonstrate ALL of the following on application and through the interview process: UK Resident with a valid driving licence A recognised qualification in Building Surveying or Construction (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent) OR a proven track record (min. 3 years) working in a local authority or housing provider in a similar field Experience delivering fire safety and/or decarbonisation schemes and managing contractors on site Strong knowledge of construction contracts, building regulations, health and safety standards (including CDM), and good housing maintenance practice Excellent project management and organisational skills, with experience managing large budgets and engaging with residents and leaseholders Sound understanding of typical surveying legislation including the Decent Homes Standard and HHSRS Desirable: Chartered status (MRICS, MCIOB, or equivalent) Experience using AutoCAD and writing technical reports What to do next?
