About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Engineering Consultant Mechanical Systems who thrives on solving complex, real-world problems from the ground up, to join a team where engineering is reimagined from first principles.
In this role, you ll work across a diverse range of sectors from automotive and motorsport to aerospace and defence applying analytical rigour, creative design, and engineering intuition to deliver elegant, practical solutions.
This position suits engineers with strong theoretical grounding, curiosity, and the ability to translate analytical insight into engineered reality.
Key Responsibilities
As an Engineering Consultant Mechanical Systems, you will:
- Engineer complex systems and components through all stages of the lifecycle from concept generation to detailed design and release.
- Apply first-principles thinking, using hand calculations, mathematical modelling, and simulation to validate and optimise designs.
- Conduct multi-body dynamic analyses, finite element analysis (FEA), and system-level modelling to support concept and detailed design decisions.
- Produce clear, high-quality technical documentation, presentations, and client reports.
- Collaborate directly with clients and suppliers, managing technical delivery and maintaining strong communication throughout projects.
- Contribute to cross-sector innovation, applying transferable engineering principles across a variety of technical challenges.
- Take ownership for technical integrity, project planning, and progress tracking within your scope of work.

Essential Experience
- Mechanical design from concept through to production release.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g. SolidWorks, CATIA).
- Experience with analytical and simulation methods FEA, MBD, or mathematical modelling.
- Strong ability in hand calculations and pragmatic estimation.
- Effective written and verbal communication with colleagues and clients.
Desirable Experience
- Understanding of chassis, suspension, or multi-body system design principles.
- Experience using tools such as MSC ADAMS or MATLAB/Simulink.
- Hands-on experience within a testing or vehicle development environment.
- Basic proficiency in scripting or automation (e.g. VBA, Python).
Qualifications and Requirements
- A Master s degree (2:1 or above) in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
- Bachelor s degrees in relevant disciplines considered.
- PhD advantageous.
- Strong academic foundation particularly A-levels (or equivalent) in Maths and Physics.
- Right to work in the UK is required.
