Residents will be able to see steam power in action on the mainline this weekend as 'The William Shakespeare' travels through Warwickshire once again.

The express will actually pass nearby four times as it makes the return journey from Birmingham Moor Street to Stratford-upon-Avon twice on Sunday (April 16).

The excursion will be hauled by either 7029 Clun Castle or 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe - the pair having hauled an excursion through Warwickshire earlier in the year as part of the Four Castles event at the Didcot Railway Centre.

Full timings for Sunday's service are yet to be published.

However, on the previous two Shakespeare Expresses, the train departed from Birmingham for the first time at 10am and reached Henley-in-Arden at 10.45 where it stopped to take on passengers.

It then returned from Stratford at 12.49pm and passed through Hatton west junction at 1.05pm.

Spotters who missed the first journey could then arrive at Henley to see it pass again at 2.52pm before it made its final pass through Hatton at 4.32pm.

Warwick Nub News will provide definite timings when they are published.

Promoted by Vintage Trains, fares for the special start at £30.
